Melania Trump announced the MELANIA memecoin on January 19, 2025, introducing a second Trump-family token into an already volatile Solana market less than one day before Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Her verified X account directed users to the project website and supplied the Solana token address `FUAfBo2jgks6gB4Z4LfZkqSZgzNucisEHqnNebaRxM1P`. Solscan records the token’s first mint at 19:52:34 UTC on January 19 and identifies a supply of approximately 1 billion units. Those primary records establish the token and date independently of subsequent price reporting.

The launch mattered beyond another celebrity-branded coin. Donald Trump’s recently introduced TRUMP token had already acquired billions of dollars in nominal market value. MELANIA gave traders a second asset linked to the incoming presidential family—and the rotation between the two produced an unusually abrupt repricing.

A multibillion-dollar launch

Contemporaneous reporting described MELANIA as a Solana-based token offered by MKT World LLC, a company associated with Melania Trump. The project website characterized the units as digital collectibles expressing support rather than an investment opportunity or security. That was the issuer’s description, not a determination by a regulator or court.

The Block reported at 4:41 p.m. Eastern that MELANIA had reached a fully diluted valuation as high as $5.69 billion, citing DEX Screener. Axios reported shortly afterward that the token had crossed $5, implying a fully diluted valuation above $5 billion when multiplied by the approximately 1 billion-token supply.

Fully diluted valuation was especially limited here. It applied the observed price in relatively young decentralized liquidity pools to the entire token supply. It did not show that every token was circulating, that the complete supply could have been sold near that price, or that the project had received billions of dollars.

The project’s launch-era allocation, as preserved by both outlets, assigned 35% to the team, 20% to the treasury and the remaining 45% among community, public-distribution and liquidity categories. The Block reported a 30-day cliff followed by monthly team-token vesting over a 13-month period. These were disclosed plans, not independent proof that every allocation was already held in the stated wallets or would be administered as described.

TRUMP reversed as MELANIA arrived

The clearest immediate market effect appeared in Official Trump. The Block observed TRUMP falling from about $73 to $38 after the MELANIA announcement—a decline of roughly 48%—before rebounding to approximately $52. Axios recorded a somewhat narrower press-time move from $72 to $44, or about 36%.

Those measurements concern the Solana-based TRUMP token during the January 19 announcement window. They are time-dependent observations from different aggregated price services, not contradictory daily closes. Cryptocurrency trades continuously across centralized exchanges and decentralized pools, and neither report supplied a venue-by-venue consolidated tape.

CoinMarketCap’s historical January 19 snapshot subsequently placed TRUMP at $45.50, with a $9.10 billion circulating market capitalization based on 200 million tokens and $39.06 billion in reported 24-hour volume. The snapshot also showed a 58.39% 24-hour gain, illustrating that TRUMP could finish the dataset’s window sharply above its prior-day reference while still suffering a severe intraday reversal after MELANIA appeared.

Political branding became a market variable

The episode showed how political identity could function as a direct crypto-market catalyst. Traders were not evaluating protocol revenue, productive assets or governance rights. They were repricing attention and affiliation attached to members of the family entering the White House.

As of January 19, the evidence established official promotion, token issuance, disclosed allocations and extreme trading volatility. It did not establish securities status, unlawful influence, realized profits for the Trump family or misconduct by any identified participant. Those questions required evidence beyond the event-day record.
