Ripple and Robinhood announced a multi-part integration on October 27 that makes Ripple USD available on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp, while setting a later target for the stablecoin to reach Robinhood’s main consumer app. The companies also said Robinhood will use RLUSD for institutional settlement on the XRP Ledger and adopt Ripple’s treasury software for its own financial operations.
The distinction between current and planned access matters. The joint announcement says RLUSD is live on Robinhood Chain and Bitstamp as of October 27. Availability in the Robinhood app, perpetual-futures support through Ripple Prime and some broader uses are expected later in 2026; they are not completed launches today.
One agreement, several financial functions
The relationship extends beyond distributing a stablecoin. Robinhood plans to integrate Ripple Treasury for cash and liquidity management, forecasting, payments, risk management and intercompany netting.
The companies also described an existing institutional relationship through Ripple Prime. The joint announcement says Ripple Prime provides Bitstamp with lending and margin financing across roughly 20 digital assets and gives its own clients access to spot trading on the exchange. Perpetual-futures support is scheduled for later in the year.
Those are different functions with different risks. A stablecoin can serve as settlement cash without making the underlying trade riskless. Treasury software can automate workflows without eliminating counterparty, liquidity or operational risk. Prime-broker financing can widen market access while adding credit and leverage exposure.
Robinhood’s scale gives the rollout a larger test
Robinhood’s unaudited third-quarter release, issued after the market close on October 27, reported 28.7 million funded customers as of September 30, up 1.9 million, or 7%, from a year earlier. The company defines a funded customer as a person with a Robinhood account who had a positive qualifying balance or completed a transaction within the prior 45 days. The metric includes customers added through WonderFi beginning in June 2026, so it is not a count of active RLUSD users or people eligible to receive the token.
The same release reported $50 billion of cryptocurrency notional trading volume during the three months ended September 30, down 38% year over year. Robinhood attributed $29 billion of that quarterly volume to Bitstamp and $21 billion to the Robinhood app. Notional volume measures the dollar value of executed trades and does not represent revenue, customer assets or stablecoin settlement volume.
These figures show the size of the venues into which Ripple’s products are being introduced, but they do not measure adoption of the partnership. Neither opened primary record disclosed October 27 RLUSD balances on Robinhood Chain or Bitstamp, settlement value, app users, treasury savings, fees paid by either party or commercial contract terms.
What remains to be proved
The integration broadens RLUSD distribution and ties Ripple’s customer-facing token to Robinhood’s internal treasury and institutional-market infrastructure. That is more consequential than a simple asset listing because it places the same provider across settlement, corporate cash management and financing.
It also concentrates several claims in one vendor relationship. Performance, uptime, compliance controls and counterparty arrangements will need separate evidence as the rollout proceeds. The announcement does not say which jurisdictions will receive in-app RLUSD access, whether every Bitstamp institutional client can use XRP Ledger settlement, or what approvals may still be required.
The next verifiable milestones are the first appearance of RLUSD in the Robinhood app, documented institutional settlement activity and disclosures showing whether Ripple Treasury has entered production use. Until those records arrive, the evidence establishes an integration and a staged rollout—not customer uptake, cost savings or a change in Robinhood’s reported trading volumes.
